Ms. Cho holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts from the University of Hong Kong and a bachelor’s degree in laws from Manchester Metropolitan University. Ms. Cho further obtained a postgraduate certificate in laws from the University of Hong Kong afterwards. She has been a qualified solicitor for more than 17 years. She has worked for several solicitor firms, and she is currently the sole proprietor of Messrs. Cho Mei Ting & Co., Solicitors which she founded in 2010.

Motivation to enter the legal field
What motivated Ms. Cho to enter the legal field? It was her desire to change the working environment from a very pure but small society into a more sophisticated world. At the age of 37 years old, Ms. Cho changed her career from being a teacher to become a trainee solicitor. Working as a teacher no doubt is full of fun because of the interactions with teenagers, but as a lawyer, the attraction is from the immediate challenges from work and clients. Whether being a teacher or a lawyer makes no difference to Ms. Cho because it only serves one purpose, i.e. the actualization of oneself to the greatest extent. Her choice finally rests with the latter because she finds that the nature of work in the legal field suits her character more.

Wishes to make a difference to the society
The Buddha once said, “Impermanence is sorrow”. Ms. Cho believes that she has the duty to make the world lesser pain. She wants to serve the society by offering people advice through her legal work. Advising clients to do the right things at the right moment is of apparent importance. Bearing this in mind, Ms. Cho is determined to be a “family lawyer”, the concept of which derives from a “family doctor”. She hopes to extend her benevolence to the society with her legal service, looking after clients from one generation to another.

Career motto
To her, being a solicitor is a meaningful job. Not only can she earn a reasonable living; but most importantly, she has established a good rapport with most of her clients and is able to resolve her clients’ problems in an amicable way. “Always being in clients’ shoes” is her career motto, and by holding steadfast to this motto, Ms. Cho always put her clients in the first priority.
